After reading an autobiography and listening to an audio recording of an interview done by Roald Dahl, the class compiled a list of writing tips from the author. It was very interesting to learn to what a famous author has to say about the art of writing, and the students were very excited to start their own personal writer's notebooks. Some of the most interesting facts we learned that we will be sure to keep in mind include:
  • Write down ideas as soon as they come to you before you forget them
  • Stop writing when you still have something to say, this will ensure you are excited to come back to your writing
  • You must be very patient and disciplined when writing
  • Sometimes you need to re-write whole parts to make your story right
  • Always exaggerate the good and bad about a character
