Students enjoyed learning how to play the strategic board game, Catan. The students did a great job of using their unit vocabulary when referring to items that are "in demand", "traded", "exported", and "imported." The game supports the understanding that the medium of exchange, as well as the ever-changing marketplace, can quickly change the direction of the game.
The Grade 3/4 class has embarked on an exciting journey of creating and running a toy company. To date, the company has been designed, named, and a slogan has been created. Now our inventors are busy at work designing the next big toys to hit the market. What deisgns will make it through to the next step of marketing, we will just have to wait and see!
The students enjoyed trading resources with other "countries" to import and export items need to make a S'more. This was a great activity to introduce the students to their new vocabulary words and create connections that were memorable.
The students enjoyed their day at the Museum of Science and Technology. One whole section of the museum was dedicated to the brain and how it controls our bodies. The students had some hands-on experience with how the brain can be altered.
Students are learning the names of the parts of the brain, along with their functions. In order to have a good understanding of how the brain is structured, students are creating Brain Hats!
