The students had fun using our unit vocabulary words to create their own crossword puzzles. Next step, can they solve them?

After reading the history of the alphabet, the students used the Greek alphabet to spell their names. After lots of laughing and sharing, the students challenged one another by writing words with the Greek alphabet and having their classmates decipher them.
 Sir Gadabout is the worst knight in King Arthur's court, but will he be able to help the Ghost of Sir Henry and clear his name of the crime of pilchard-stealing?
Wow, the class already knows a lot about ancient civilizations! We will use our web to help guide our activities and to make connections between different civilizations. First stop, Ancient Egypt!   Getting excited about our new unit by exploring a variety of texts about different civilizations!  Taking notes on words, phrases, and statements that make a great ad.
 I love when my students make connections about our unit when they are out of the classroom. Thank you to one of the students who made the connection that her library book was an excellent example of how technology has changed over time! We all really enjoyed reading the super cute story, maybe we will read "The Lonely Typewriter" next!
