Students are working on their IB unit about Homes Around the World. As part of their English unit, they are also learning about procedural writing. In order to prepare for their final research project in which students will describe how their chosen home is built step-by-step, students had to follow written instructions to construct a Lego house. As you can see, students added some of their own flare to the design!

Wow! I am so impressed with the hard work put towards the isteam portion of the student's procedural writing activity. After researching the resources and techniques used to build different styles of homes found around the world, students wrote out the steps for building their own model of the home. I look forward to trying to recreate these models by following their instructions.
Today the Grade 3/4s began their new English unit on procedural writing. I kicked off the unit by having students listen to my step-by-step instructions to draw a mystery picture.
The students found it very amusing to see each other's final drawings! Students reflected on the importance of clear and precise instruction in order to complete a task properly. |
